Sexually Transmitted Diseases
2010 Developmental Awards

ASTDA CALL FOR RESEARCH PROPOSALS

The American Sexually Transmitted Disease Association announces the availability of Developmental Awards for research on sexually transmitted infections (excluding HIV).  The purpose of the award is to encourage new investigators (or investigators new to STD) to pursue careers in STD research.  These awards are intended to provide a period of support for the investigator so that he/she can establish an independent project and acquire preliminary data for successful submission of a NIH R- or K-series application.

Funding is available to persons who have recently achieved faculty status (including acting appointments) or those actively transitioning to faculty-level appointments at a U.S. institution. Funding is limited to U.S. citizens.

Note: These are career development awards. A detailed career development plan is part of a competitive application.

The Developmental Award will provide up to $55,000 per year (direct costs), for one or two-year projects beginning approximately April 1, 2010. Funds may be used for salary, technical support, supplies, equipment, or travel. Qualified minority and women scientists are encouraged to apply.  Anticipated indirect costs should not exceed 8% of the total budget.
