2022 Howard AGD Competitions

This competition is open to any University of Washington School of Dentistry AGD Chapter Members. 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th Year & Residents. UWSOD AGD members may enter clinical cases, research projects or any topic of interest for consideration in the 2022 William Howard Competition.

Howard Case selection is at the sole discretion of the student with guidance from clinical instructors and mentors. Case selection criteria should not be based on the number of units, but the quality of the case. Students may enter clinical cases, research projects or any topic of interest from basic science to Oral Medicine.

Clinical cases must demonstrate proper treatment planning, sequencing, and execution of procedures.

Suggested before and after photographs could include:

  1. *1:10 facial head picture and profile picture
  2. *Mirror pictures of the complete upper and lower arches.
  3. *Lip pictures of smile and lip at rest
  4. *1:2 retracted anterior teeth closed and open
  5. *1:2 mirror posterior right and left
  6. *1:1 retracted centered on centrals (if relevant)
  7. *1:1 retracted centered on laterals (if relevant)
  8. *Additional pictures should be included if they are relevant to explaining the case.

Research Presentations must demonstrate significant participation by applicant in the research project design, performance of research, and scientific articles from said research.

April 2022:

Case/Research presentations at the Washington Academy of General Dentistry.

First prize Clinical: $300, Second prize Clinical: $200, First prize Research: $300, and Second prize Research: $200.

2022 AGD Annual Scientific Session

Orlando, Florida

Wednesday, July 27th – Saturday, July 30th, 2022

We will help all students that participate in the 2022 Howard Competition, to submit and hopefully be selected to present in Florida.

The UWSOD AGD Student Chapter is working on support for travel and accommodations to for any of our students that are selected.

Please submit your intent to participate in the 2022 Howard Competition to Drs. Hess or Sadr no later than April 1st, 2022.

Presentations should be no longer than 12 minutes with 3 minutes for questions.
