Economic Policy Institute
The Economic Policy Institute is a nonprofit, nonpartisan think tank that seeks to broaden the public debate about strategies to achieve a prosperous and fair economy. To that end, the institute publishes briefs, paper, and policy statements on its web site. There are also 50 tables of historical data, compiled from government sources, that track the changes in labor markets and living standards. Be aware that some of these tables are the interpretations and creations of EPI and may not be unbiased. EPI provides a service called Reading Between the Lines. In their words, they correct, clarify, or amplify relevant articles that have appeared in the New York Times and Washington Post. They also provide short analyses of the Bureau of Labor Statistics monthly employment report, monthly consumer and producer price indexes report, and quarterly GDP report.

EdgarScan is an interface to the SEC EDGAR Filings. A small (35 kilobytes) Java applet called the "Benchmarking Assistant" performs graphical financial benchmarking interactively.
