Janis and I visited Marlena, who was in town for one day with a cruise that she was taking with her grandmother. It was a good excuse to go see the city. We didn't have a lot of time to hang out, but we got to shop and see the sites.

The main square was a bit touristy, but had lovely colors and many old buildings.

In the evening, we wandered by the Russian Orthodox church. Inside, the monks were chanting a continous rumble of Russian words. It was mostly monotone but very soothing.

This is one of my favorite shots of the whole trip. These are how older women typically dress. I love the contrast of them next to the painted door.

The streets in the old town are all made out of cobblestone, but I think this was a smoother type of brick.

The weekend market was in full force and the tourists were all around. There were many scarves and some jewerly for sale.

Stray cats seem to be in every Baltic city. This one probably wasn't stray because it didn't run away from me. Of course, I love cats and would always try to pet them all. Marlena and Janis were sure that I would get nasty diseases from the cats, but it was no problem.

Depeche Mode was one of my favorite groups in middle school. There was an entire bar devoted to them, complete with Depeche Mode videos, posters, and paraphernalia. I'm not sure if there was a Depeche Mode drink. After a while, it was just too much for an hour so we left.
