The Baltic Studies Endowed Fund (established 1996) ensures a permanent source of funds for the program. An endowment is a fund created for a specific purpose. It is established in perpetuity, because only the interest it produces is used. A portion of the interest is also reinvested in the fund, allowing it to grow along with inflation. As of 2007, more than $1,300,000 has been donated to the UW Baltic Studies Program.
