Partner with HBANES
The enrollment numbers in biblical Hebrew and in courses on the ancient Near East are at an all-time high. Please consider becoming a partner with NELC and contributing to the HBANES Fund. This fund allows us to sponsor public lecturers and events that directly benefit our students and the Seattle community.
Gifts to the HBANES Fund are tax-deductible and can be made with a check or credit card. Checks should be made out to "University of Washington" with a memo line that reads: "NELC HBANES Fund," and mailed to:

Biblical Hebrew Language: The Need
The growing interest in HBANES has caused something of a "bottleneck" in the biblical Hebrew language courses. Not all students who want to learn biblical Hebrew are able to get in to the first-year sequence. Since we can only offer the first-year sequence every other year, this forces some students to wait two years, often to learn that they still cannot get in. This situation remains a problem not just for NELC majors, but also for Jewish Studies majors, and double majors in History, Classics, and Comparative Religion. NELC could solve this problem with a full-time lecturer in biblical Hebrew, but this, of course, requires financial support.
