Module Overview

Illustrates the similarities and differences between living and human-engineered systems and introduces the students to the instructional methods used during the remainder of the course.

Anna Anderson claimed to be Anastasia, daughter of Tsar Nicholas Romanov. This module introduces students to the fundamental principles of the central dogma, heredity, and DNA structure, sequencing, variation, etc... by presenting them as tools for determining the potential validity of Anna Anderson's claim.

In this module, students are introduced to the concepts of protein expression, heredity, and DNA variation, as well as protein structure / function and eukaryotic cell architecture by way of trying to answer the question of what happened in a case of Osteogeneis Imperfecta.

This module incorporates the concepts of cellular energetic, metabolic diversity, ecology, niche and natural selection driving population changes into the course.
