UW Bioengineering adjunct faculty François Baneyx was elected to AIMBE’s College of Fellows Class of 2015. Dr. Baneyx is the department chair and Charles W.H. Matthaei Professor of Chemical Engineering. He joins two UW Bioengineering core faculty elected to AIMBE in 2015, Suzie Pun and Valerie Daggett.
Professor Francois Baneyx’s research is at the intersection of engineering, biology and nanotechnology. In his research he investigates protein folding, molecular chaperones and protein expression, as well as the role of cellular stress, sensor development and bionanofabrication. AIMBE, or the American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering,is a non-profit advocacy organization dedicated to improving lives through medical and biological engineering. Dr. Baneyx joins 20 other AIMBE fellows from UW Bioengineering, as well as a distinguished group of more than 1,000 other fellows from academia, industry and government who have made significant contributions to bioengineering research, industrial practice and education.
This year’s fellows will be recognized at AIMBE’s Annual Event, to be held March 15-17, 2015 in Arlington, Virginia.
