UW Bioengineering undergraduate Ameen Tabatabai’s personal health crisis put his college education on hold – temporarily. However, he returned to UW inspired to study bioengineering and improve the lives of others like him.

Ameen spoke at an event on May 20 at the Langston Hughes Performing Arts Center in Seattle, “Storytellers: How I Got Into College”. This event, co-sponsored by the Seattle Times’ Education Lab and the Road Map Project of the Community Center for Education Results, featured five students who talked about the challenges they overcame to pursue higher education.
