The Department of Bioengineering in the College of Engineering and School of Medicine at the University of Washington (UW) invites applications for a tenure-track or tenured position at the level of assistant or associate professor with an expected start date of September 16, 2014.

Applications are sought from candidates in all areas of bioengineering.  We especially encourage applicants with expertise in (i) technology for expanding access to healthcare, (ii) systems, synthetic and quantitative biology for human health, or (iii) other areas that synergize with our existing research areas (biomaterials and regenerative medicine; molecular and cellular engineering; instrumentation, imaging and image-guided therapy). The minimum qualifications are PhD or MD degrees (or equivalent terminal degree) at the time of hire and evidence of excellence, originality and productivity in research and the potential for excellent teaching. The successful candidate will be expected to develop an internationally recognized research program, to participate in the teaching and service missions of the department, and to follow UW’s strong tradition of collaboration across disciplinary boundaries.

The department includes 44 teaching and research faculty members, 176 graduate students, 177 undergraduates and 49 post-doctoral fellows. Our educational programs are consistently ranked in the top ten by US News and World Report and our esteemed faculty includes five members of the National Academy of Engineering, among other honors.  Our department has built strong collaborative links with the UW Medicine Hospitals, ranked among the top hospitals in the nation in US News and World Report.
