How I am inventing the future of medicine
My laboratory is investigating ways of ameliorating DNA damage and apoptosis in somatic and germ cells in order to slow the aging process and prevent diseases and we are using novel techniques to visualize cells with DNA damage and cells undergoing apoptosis in the wrong place at the wrong time.

We are also investigating compounds such as artemisinin (and its derivatives and novel conjugates and dimers) for killing cancer cells.

Research Description
The ultimate goal of my research is the elucidation of the mechanisms responsible for aging and disease processes and application of these findings to ameliorate or prevent aging and age-related diseases, including cancer.
