Seed Proposals
The goals of the seed funding program are to create new promising translational research projects and collaborations between faculty in the Bioengineering Department and clinicians at UW.
The funding can be used to create new preliminary data or to acquire more substantive proof of principle for existing research and development effort. The seed funding can also be used—in cases where sufficient preliminary data already exists—to evaluate the intellectual property landscape and/or the business opportunity and the path to commercialization and/or clinical impact.
Another approach is to use the seed funds to support faculty, staff and/or students to work toward demonstrating the medical niche for a technology, which may not be readily apparent. Upon its completion, the project should produce a significant translational research opportunity, either a full Coulter project or investment from other sources.
