Schultz Travel Fellowships
- These fellowships defray expenses associated with travel to scientific conferences, for as many as 4 graduate students and 4 postdoctoral fellows each year. Fellowships are awarded in the very broad areas of cancer, developmental biology, and stem cell and regenerative medicine. All graduate students and postdoctoral fellows working in Biochemistry research groups are eligible.
- To apply, submit an informal, free-form, one-page application explaining how your work relates to any of these research areas; why you would like to attend a particular conference; the anticipated costs of travel and registration; and whether your mentor, program, or fellowship can help to defray the costs. Applications will be considered on a first come first serve basis, but please apply well in advance. Completed applications should be emailed to Christina Larmore at biochem@uw.edu.
- You do not have to be an expert in the field or have results to present, but the selection process will favor students who are making oral or poster presentations or can argue that attendance will advance their career plans. To avoid competition between graduate students and postdoctoral fellows, separate funds have been set aside for the two groups.
- The award committee consists of three faculty (Earl Davie, Eric Muller, and Steve Hauschka), a graduate student (Jana Mandic), and a postdoctoral fellow (TBN).
