PAPER SESSIONS
Members and other ornithologists are invited
to contribute to the scientific session. The Scientific Program Committee
will select and organize papers in appropriate sessions based on scientific
content of the abstract. More information regarding abstract submissions
and deadlines can be found at The
AOU Program Coordinator's Page.
Kroodsma and Byers (2000) have written a helpful article, providing
some solid advice on preparing slides for successful presentations (
Auk 117(3):831-835). A PDF file of this article is available
here. If you are unable to open this file, you may need to download
a free version of Adobe
Acrobat Reader.
Other suggestions and guidelines on slide
and poster presentations can be found on the AOU
Program Coordinators website.
Electronic Presentations
Each presentation room will have a digital projector connected to a
Windows-based Pentium laptop (in addition to 35mm slide and overhead
transparency projectors). Each laptop will have a CD-ROM drive, Zip
drive, and ethernet connection to the Internet, and will be equipped
with Microsoft Powerpoint. The central slide preview room will have
both a Macintosh and a Windows/Pentium desktop computer, each with CD-ROM,
Zip drive, and ethernet connection to the Internet. Thus, for PC-based
presentations, please bring your Powerpoint file(s) on a CD or Zip disk,
or have it readily available across the Internet. Macintosh-created
Powerpoint files will run on Windows Powerpoint, but care should be
taken that the Mac-based file is in a format that is readable to the
Windows-based projection computers. File transfers can be accomplished
in the slide preview room on the side-by-side Macintosh and Windows
computers, if necessary.
