Reading a DocReview
Users of DocReview need to understand only a very limited number of operations. The program was designed to be unusually simple and limited in scope. Reviewing documents is the main application of DocReview. The document may be read simply by scrolling the document down with the scroll bars, the space bar or arrow keys. Longer documents can be navigated by searching for a key word in the text.

Should you wish to read the document without the distraction of the W and R links, you may read an "untagged" copy of the document by clicking "Special Features" in the DocReview page and selecting "View Base Document."

Reading Comments
The presence of annotations or comments to a review segment in the text is indicated by the R links. If you click on any of these links you will be taken to the list of annotations for that segment of the text. Segments without R links have not been annotated, they have only the W link.

The comments may be read inserted inline by clicking the "Special Features" button at the top of the DocReview and clicking the "Display all comments in-line" link. Should you wish to just read all comments made, in reverse chronological order, just click the "Special Features" button and click the "View all Comments" link.

Making Comments
Users can append annotations to a section of a document (the review segment) by clicking on the W link at the beginning of the segment. Users cannot create review segments, only the editor can do that. A form will appear allowing you to make your annotation. You may omit your name, but of course non-attributable comments are not of much value. Your e-mail address is useful to other reviewers who may wish to contact you off-the-record about your annotation. If you have a number of comments to make, you might copy your name to the clipboard and paste it into the form each time you comment.

After typing in your comment you may preview the comment by clicking the Preview button. To send the comment off, click the send button. Cut and paste can be used to insert annotations into DocReview comments from e-mail or other documents.

The editor can restrict writing of comments by using a write password. If you see a request for a password in the comment form and you wish to make a comment, contact the sponsor or facilitator.

The annotations or comments by the user can be formatted, for the comments are interpreted by the program as HTML, the language of the WWW. This means that you can put emphasis into your annotations with italics, or bolds, or both. Paragraph breaks can be made, and bulleted or numbered lists can be made. Links to Web Pages can be made by adding link anchors.

Here are some tips to format your comments:
