The BMSD Program draws faculty from a wide bredth of departments, including Biochemistry, Bioengineering, Pharmacology, Medicinal Chemistry, Chemistry, and Biological Structure; as well as from the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center and Institute for Systems Biology. The current Program Director, Valerie Daggett, comes from the Department of Bioengineering, and previous Directors have been members of Biochemistry and the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center. Likewise, BMSD students hold a variety of undergraduate degrees including Chemistry, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Computer Science, Physics, Biophysics, Biomedical Engineering, and Bioengineering. The program fosters an interdisciplinary community where different methods and techniques are put together in new ways to elicit biological structures and give a unique insight to new technologies and therapeutics.
