Initial Workshop

1 June 2002	The initial workshop commences at the Sheraton Hotel in downtown Tacoma, Washington.
2 June 2002	Participants will be bussed to Port Townsend, Washington, 90 minutes away.
2-5 June 2002	Workshop activities. Participants will be housed in The Bishop Victorian and The Swan hotel in downtown Port Townsend.
5 June 2002	Participants will be bussed back to the Tacoma Sheraton in the evening.
6 June 2002	Departure.

Capstone Workshop

7 June 2003	The second workshop commences at the Silver Cloud Hotel on the Tacoma Waterfront, about 2 miles from downtown Tacoma, Washington.
8 June 2003	Participants will be bussed to Port Townsend, Washington, 90 minutes away.
8-11 June 2002	Workshop activities. Participants will be housed in The Bishop Victorian and The Swan hotel in downtown Port Townsend.
11 June 2003	Participants will be bussed back to the Tacoma Silvercloud Inn in the evening.
12 June 2003	Departure.

Food, Lodging, and Transportation

• All arrangements for food and for transportation between Tacoma and Port Townsend will be made by the workshop organizers. Lodging for NSF-supported participants will also be arranged by the workshop organizers; participants paying their own supports costs will make their own lodging arrangements from information supplied by the organizers.
• Food, lodging, local transportation and workshop materials from dinner, June 7 through breakfast, June 12 are included in the cost.
• All participants are responsible for their transportation costs and arrangements between their homes and the Silvercloud in downtown Tacoma. The closest airport is the Sea-Tac airport, 20 miles north of Tacoma, with direct flights from locations across the USA and internationally. The Pierce Transit 574 bus leaves about once/hour to downtown Tacoma from Sea-Tac, costing $2. Please ask at the transit information desk at baggage claim where to catch this bus. Make sure to get off the bus at the "Tacoma Dome Station". From there, call the Silvercloud Inn, (253) 272-1300, and request a free shuttle ride from the Tacoma Dome Station. The Silvercloud Shuttle operates between 8am and 8pm, daily. Alternatively, you can take the Shuttle Express from the airport
directly to the Silvercloud Inn. The cost is $23/person, with the costs decreasing with more people.
• We will meet the first evening of workshop 2 will be at Trattoria Grazie, a few blocks from the Silvercloud, 5:00pm for drinks, 6:30pm for food. The receptionist at the Silvercloud can direct you to the restaurant.

The Fun Stuff

The Pacific Northwest offers abundant opportunities for sightseeing and recreation, with the Olympic mountains and the Puget Sound surrounding Port Townsend, the San Juan Islands just to the north of Port Townsend and the Cascade Mountains and Mount Ranier less than two hours from Tacoma. Portland Oregon is 150 miles south of Tacoma, Seattle is 30 miles north, and Vancouver, B.C. is 150 miles north of Tacoma.
