Jonathan Brown is currently on research leave until January, 2009. His introductory text on the Muslim Hadith tradition and debates over it in the modern world (entitled Hadith: The Transmission, Use and Criticism of the Prophet's Legacy) is currently in press with Oneworld Press (forthcoming 2008) as part of its Foundations of Islam series. At present, Dr. Brown is working on a monograph about the forgery of Hadith, its uses and efforts to uncover it throughout Islamic history. He is also writing the Very Short Introduction on Muhammad for Oxford University Press. He has published articles on Sufism, Hadith and Islamic lexical theory.
