The UW Clinical Psychology program is consistently ranked among the top five in the US and Canada, while the UW School of Nursing is ranked 1st in the nation and the UW Medical School is ranked 9th in the nation. The University is committed to interdisciplinary programs and to reducing the institutional barriers between investigators.

The UW provides organized and extensive support to researchers and their research programs. It is 1st among public universities and 2nd among all universities (behind Johns Hopkins) in research support from the federal government. The Department of Psychology is ranked 2nd in the nation in federal research support (led only by the University of Wisconsin). Dr. Linehan has been continuously supported since 1981. She currently holds a Senior Scientist Award from the National Institute of Mental Health allowing her to devote full time to research.

The Behavioral Research and Therapy Clinics which Dr. Linehan directs is associated with a national and international consortium of clinical, neurobiological, and intervention researchers.
