ADVICE FOR STUDENTS in the EARLY ADMISSION GROUP (EAG) & FRESHMEN ADMISSION PROGRAM (FRAP)
General Education Courses
During your first two years at the UW, you should take general education courses that fulfill the "Areas of Knowledge" distribution requirements. English composition, business prerequisites and the 90 non-business credit requirement needed to graduate.
Lower-Division Business Courses
During your sophomore year in the Business School, you will work on completing your lower-division business courses. These courses should be completed before you take upper-division business courses.
Upper-Division Business Courses
Registration restrictions limit many upper-division business courses to juniors and above, so EAGs and FRAPs may not be able to register for these courses.
Certificate of International Studies in Business (CISB)
If you are intending to apply for the Certificate of International Studies in Business (CISB), be sure to complete the foreign language requirements necessary for admission to CISB.

REGISTRATION and CURRICULUM TIPS
Changing Your Schedule
You may add and drop courses through the online registration system before classes begin. Once the quarter begins, you may drop courses during the first 14 calendar days of the quarter with no transcript entry for the courses dropped. However, for courses dropped during the second week there is a $20 fee and possible tuition forfeiture.
Annual Drop
You are allowed one annual drop after the 14th day of the quarter through the 7th week of the quarter each academic year (September -August). Courses will be recorded on the transcript with a W followed by the week designation (W3).
When a Course Is Full
When a class you want is full, we recommend choosing another section or class during your time of registration so that you are assured of having the number of credits you desire and a workable schedule for that quarter. However, you can keep checking the web, as students change their schedules and the section you want may open up.
UW Grading System
Pay special attention to Credit/No-Credit and Satisfactory/Not Satisfactory grading practices. Note that you are limited to a total of 25 S/NS credits
CR/NC (credit/no credit) A department may offer a course CR/NC, which means that the course can only be taken that way. There is no restriction on the number of CR/NC courses a student can take.
S/NS (satisfactory/not satisfactory) All courses can be taken S/NS, but you should only choose this grading option for classes taken as general electives. You cannot take a course S/NS if you plan to use it to satisfy any UW or Business School requirement. See the Time Schedule or the UW General Catalog for directions and limitations. S/NS grades do not affect a student 's GPA.
Overloads
Overloading means registering for a course that is already full. Instructors control who can overload into their upper-division classes. They do this by giving a student an entry code if they approve the student adding the course. If you are given an entry code, use it immediately because there are limits to the number of overloads allowed per class.
"A Full Load"
We do not require students to attend the Business School full-time. However, if you are receiving a scholarship, financial aid, veteran's benefits, or if you are an international student, check with the appropriate office to know your specific requirements. Full-time rate of degree pursuit is an average of 15 credits per quarter, three quarters per year. Your study habits, work schedule, and other responsibilities determine the appropriate load for you. Ten through18 credits cost the same tuition.
Prerequisites
MyUW will enforce prerequisite requirements, so check the Time Schedule or UW General Catalog to make sure you have taken all the required courses before you try to register. There may also be additional restrictions for a course, such as class level (junior and seniors only, for example).
Course Equivalencies
UW equivalencies for courses taken at Washington State community colleges.
