TYPES OF AWARDS
The Business School awarded scholarships to 198 students for the 2004-2005 academic year. These scholarships are mostly funded by endowments established by alumni and friends of the Business School. The majority of scholarships, ranging from $1,000 to $2,500, consider a student's merit and financial need in determining eligibility for award. There are also a limited number of merit scholarships for $1,000 that do not require financial need as a basis for award. International students will only be considered for merit scholarships.
DEADLINE - WHEN TO APPLY
Students wishing to apply for scholarships for the 2005-2006 academic year can download an application form from our web site in mid-January. The deadline is April 5, 2005 . Late applications will not be accepted. Please note that scholarships are awarded for the academic year. If you miss the deadline, you cannot apply again until the following academic year.
WHO CAN APPLY
- Current Business School students
- New Business School applicants
To be eligible to receive a Business School scholarship you will need to be a full-time student, averaging 12 credits per quarter over three quarters, for a total of 36 credits during the 2005-2006 academic year. Accommodations can be made for a one-quarter internship as long as you will be enrolled for three of the four quarters during the 2005-2006 academic year. If you plan to study abroad, you must be concurrently enrolled at the UW to be eligible for scholarships.
FINANCIAL NEED
To qualify for a scholarship with financial need as one of the criteria, you must also file a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) with the Federal Student Aid Program. We recommend mailing the FAFSA by February 15, 2005 to receive timely information for scholarship purposes. Even if you miss the February deadline, we encourage you to submit a FAFSA, as these are sometimes accepted past the deadline.
SCHOLARSHIPS ARE AWARDED YEARLY
Scholarships are for one academic year. Students who received scholarships for the 2004-2005 academic year need to re-apply for the 2005-2006 academic year.
