Dear Foster School Community:
One of our new year’s resolutions for 2009 is to respond to some of the suggestions we received from you for improved technology in last spring’s In-Library Use Survey. Here are some things that are new for winter quarter:
We’ve upgraded our computer equipment by replacing six of our old Libraries public workstations and adding four additional workstations. Most of these will require UWNetID authentication and have MS OFFICE available.
Our Bloomberg workstation will be replaced within the first few weeks of the quarter. This should result in a big improvement in performance.
To enhance group work we’ve also purchased seven large LCD screens for our group study rooms that students can use with their own laptops to display presentations, web pages, and other images. Four rooms on our mezzanine now have wall-mounted LCD screens available. We’ll have three more rooms outfitted with LCD screens within the first few weeks of the quarter.
We’re very grateful to the School’s Andersen Technology Endowment for funding these technology enhancements.
