Business information portal UzReport.com won the first place in the "Best periodical website" category of the National UZ Domain Internet Festival in Uzbekistan. The festival was held to support development of internet resources and services in the UZ domain. Uzbek Agency for Communication and Informatization (UzACI), UZINFOCOM - centre for development and introduction of computer and information technologies, and infoCOM.UZ magazine were the organizers of the event. The festival was held in several stages starting on August 1. The total number of participants in the contest was 617. Awards were given for the best website in the field of science and education, culture and art, sports, tourism, leisure and tours, medicine and healthcare, network services and e-trade. Also among the winners were the best sites of traditional media, state bodies, sites for the youth, the best corporate site, personal web page, the best site in state (Uzbek) language and the best blogger on UzNet. Secretary General ITU Hamadun Ture, who was visiting Uzbekistan, attended the event and congratulated the participants. "It is very important that the number of people using the World Wide Web is growing in Uzbekistan. Especially noteworthy is the fact that today there are more than 2.5 million internet users in the country.
