(UW only)

Introduction:

Students at Western Washington University and the University of Washington spent Winter Quarter, 1998, in an experimental joint class to explore the implications of the North American Free Trade Agreement.

The classes were linked via videoconference for six of their 20 sessions. A joint final class on the UW campus featured presentations to a government official of the book-length collaborative paper.

The course was based on a class that Asst. Prof. Matt Sparke has offered for several years at the UW. Prof. Don Alper at WWU taught the parallel course in Bellingham. A federal Title VI grant covered videoconference costs.
