Physical Health and Well-being in Children

From encouraging health-promoting behaviors to helping families with a medically ill child, researchers at CCFW are trying to find answers to health problems facing children.  We are currently conducting studies on ways to promote health-enhancing behaviors such as increasing physical activity and reducing screen time in children.  Interventions for HIV and prevention of sexually transmitted illnesses are also being developed for at-risk youth.  Having a medically ill child is very challenging, and we are also conducting studies on child and caregiver adjustment in families with a child who has been newly diagnosed with cancer with the goal of developing interventions to help families during this stressful time.
