Research at CCFW focuses on promoting child well-being using a whole-child or bioecolocial approach. Researchers include a over 20 faculty from across the UW, including psychology, psychiatry, nursing, social work, pediatrics, medicine, and education, collaborating in transdisciplinary programs of research. Research initiatives include:
- Enhancing children’s social, emotional and cognitive competence, with a particular focus on the role of self-regulation or executive function
- Addressing the effects of disadvantage and adversity on children, with an emphasis on the role of parents and families in promoting well-being
- Infusing mindfulness and compassion in research, policy and practice with children, parents, educators and providers working with children.
