Occupational and Environmental Health Challenges in
Rapidly Industrializing Countries

Global competition increasingly drives companies to operate in countries where they can produce goods at the lowest production cost. Rapid changes in industrializing countries can impose new risks from hazardous substances and dangerous processes, and economic pressures can weaken attention to safeguards for workers and the environment.

This conference will address high priority topics in rapidly industrializing countries, particularly Southeast Asia. The conference will focus on research that goes beyonddescriptive reports that attempts to characterize causes of problems or identify interventions; intervention programs that have undergone evaluation; and solutions that are innovative, generalizable, and sustainable.
