Anamai (Thiravirojana) Thetkathuek, Ph.D.

Project
Cholinesterase activity, Chlorpyrifos concentration, CPOase activities among orchard workers exposed to Chlorpyrifos in Thailand

About Dr. Thetkathuek
I am an assistant professor Dr. Anamai Thetkathuek, the lecturer in the faculty of Public Health, Burapha University, Thailand. I graduated from the faculty of tropical Medicine, Mahidol University major in Environmental Toxicology. My activities relate to studies of occupational health in pesticide exposure assessment and health effects among farm workers in Thailand. Chlorpyrifos exposure assessment studies are being performed in Klaeng district, Rayong province Thailand to establish their pesticide exposure profiles, as well as their genetic susceptibility of health effects resulting from the exposures. Chlorpyrifos and their metabolite levels were measured in plasma, and saliva samples before and after pesticide spraying. Cholinesterase levels, both baseline and post-exposure, and OPoxonase levels were also measured. The objective of these studies is to explore the relationship among exposure levels measured in specimen samples, biomarker of effect, and the genetic polymorphism. We are in the process of preparing for publication.
