Our Major Conference Partner

Joining us as a major conference partner is the Portland-based Northwest Health Foundation, founded in 1997 to advance the health of the people of Oregon and southwest Washington. The Foundation explicitly identifies community-based participatory research as one of six issue areas it invests in and views it as "as a tool to generate meaningful information about community health and build the capacity of groups united by common challenges to organize and advocate for change."

The Prevention Research Centers Program of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is an interdependent network of community, academic, and public health partners that conduct prevention research and promote the wide use of practices proven to promote good health.

St. Luke's Episcopal Health Charities is a grant-making public charity with 501(c)(3) status. It provides the Houston community and communities within the 57-county Episcopal Diocese of Texas with a much-needed resource: a charity devoted exclusively to assessing and enhancing community health, not just for ill-care, but for lifelong health and well-being.

United Way of the Columbia-Willamette works to advance the common good and create opportunities for a better life for all. We focus on the basics we all need to succeed: education, income, health. Our goal is to create long-lasting change that prevents problems from happening in the first place.

Supporting Organizations

The Centre for Community Based Research in Kitchener, ON is focused on strengthening communities through social research. Founded in 1982, CCBR believes in the power of knowledge to impact positive social change. They are passionate about bringing people together to use knowledge to provide real and innovative solutions to community needs. Their approach to research is participatory and action-oriented in a way that mobilizes people to participate as full and equal members of society.

First Stop Portland organizes Study Tours™ around livability and sustainability for delegations visiting Portland, Oregon, USA. We provide logistical and planning support for those interested in learning the story behind Portland’s sustainability practices.

 

The Journal of Empirical Research on Human Research Ethics is a peer-reviewed, Medline-indexed journal that publishes empirical research and reviews of empirical literature on human research ethics. CCPH members receive a discount on subscriptions.

The Kellogg Health Scholars Program is a two-year postdoctoral fellowship to develop future leaders committed to achieving health equity and eliminating health disparities.

The Knowledge Synthesis and Exchange Branch of the Canadian Institutes of Health Research contributes to the advancement of the mandate of CIHR, particularly as it relates to knowledge translation (KT), defined as a dynamic and iterative process that includes synthesis, dissemination, exchange and ethically-sound application of knowledge to improve the health of Canadians, provide more effective health services and products and strengthen the health care system.

The Office of Behavioral and Social Sciences Research, National Institutes of Health stimulates behavioral and social sciences research throughout NIH and integrates these areas of research more fully into others of the NIH health research enterprise, thereby improving our understanding, treatment, and prevention of disease.

Portland State University enhances the intellectual, social, cultural and economic qualities of urban life by providing access throughout the life span to a quality liberal education for undergraduates and an appropriate array of professional and graduate programs especially relevant to metropolitan areas. PSU values its identity as an engaged university that promotes a reciprocal relationship between the community and the University in which knowledge serves the city and the city contributes to the knowledge of the University.

Progress in Community Health Partnerships is a national, peer-reviewed journal whose mission is to identify and
publicize model programs that use community partnerships to improve public health, to promote progress in the methods of research and education involving community health partnerships, and to stimulate action that will improve the health of people and communities. PCHP is the first scholarly journal dedicated to Community-Based Participatory Research (CBPR). CCPH members receive a discount on subscriptions to PCHP.

Women with Disabilities Health Equity Coalition in Portland, OR is a coalition dedicated to decreasing health disparities among women with disabilities by improving access to health promotion services and quality of care.
