Regional Networks

Northeastern Pennsylvania CCPH Regional Network

The Northeastern Pennsylvania (NEPA) CCPH Regional Network plans to become a vehicle to develop stronger linkages between health providers, community groups, local school districts, and community organizations in order to provide a seamless exchange of information on an ongoing basis. In particular, the leadership team and advisory committee will endeavor to pool resources and share information to benefit the wide range of rural and underserved populations in the region.

Specific Activities of the Regional Network

Infrastructure
The NEPA CCPH Regional Network will establish an interdisciplinary regional committee of government officials, health providers, students, and academicians to advance ideas for improving cultural competency skills and skill set training programs. The network will also coordinate collaborative faculty, student and community research projects

Professional Development & Leadership Training
In winter 2003, the Network will host the first annual Health Care Symposium. This symposium will be followed by local, regional and Tri-state workshops & conferences to promote community-campus partnerships and function as a clearinghouse for linking with the community.

Outreach & Dissemination
In order to reach rural and underserved populations the Network will work with school districts and intermediate units to plan and implement twice annually Educational Health Outreach Sessions. In conjunction with these sessions, the Network will develop a system to link the needs of community partners with the service-learning requirements of higher educational institutions in the region. This will enrich the learning experience for students, expand the capabilities of community organizations and improve the health of Pennsylvania. Finally, they will create a regional website and listserv.

Region in Focus
NEPA CCPH Regional Network will encompass 13 counties, including: Bradford, Carbon, Clinton, Lackawanna, Luzerne, Lycoming, Monroe, Pike, Sullivan, Susquehanna, Tioga, Wayne, and Wyoming.
