Program Eligibility

Read Carefully: Each applicant must qualify under EACH criteria:  General, Academic, Economic & Educational

General Criteria:

  • US citizen or permanent resident
  • Matriculated full-time UW student (12 credits/quarter) in a baccalaureate degree program
  • Demonstrated commitment and/or interest in serving minority and disadvantaged communities (i.e., have you volunteered, participated in research, or engaged in community service in such settings)

Academic Criteria:

If graduating in 2021:

  • Minimum GPA of 3.0 in college science and math introductory courses
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher, and
  • Chem 142 completed; Chem 152 / 162 completed or enrolled
  • Math 124: completed; Math 125 completed or enrolled

If graduating in 2020 or sooner:

  • Minimum GPA of 3.0 in college science and math introductory courses
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher, and
  • Chem 142, 152, 162 completed
  • Biol 180:  completed or enrolled
  • Chem 237 or above:  completed or enrolled

Economic Disadvantage Criteria:

  • Family income at or below 200% of the Federal Poverty Level

 Educational Disadvantaged Criteria:

  • 1st generation student to attend college defined by one or both parent(s) having not completed a 4-year college degree or higher, OR
  • From a racial or ethnic group that UW policy recognizes as educationally disadvantaged
