Facility Core #3: Technology Access
The Technology Access Core provides CEEH investigators with subsidized and ready access to advanced technologies available at the UW and the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center (FHCRC). The core works with technology including analytical cytology, analytical biochemistry, high performance liquid chromatography, small molecule mass spectrometry, transgenic animal services, animal and human imaging, histology, immunohistochemistry, stereology, animal and human metabolic phenotyping, and other advanced techniques in order to support investigations of gene-environment interactions in the context of basic and integrative environmental health sciences research.
The Technology Access Core aims to:
- Provide CEEH members with access to a number of cost recovery, center-based technical resources available on the UW and FHCRC campuses.
- Provide consultation to CEEH members regarding available technologies, the scientific principles and bases for these technologies, and the utility of such techniques for their research programs.
- Coordinate the activities of this core with the other CEEH facility cores in order to provide efficient utilization of resources and expertise.
- Provides training and oversight to students, post-doctoral fellows and staff in the principles of advanced technical instrumentation and their operation.
