The sustained employment record leads to a steady rise in the national rankings. Incidentally, the average starting salary for the MBA class of 1989 is $39,625. It’s nearly three times greater in 2016.

Pacific Northwest Executive holds essay contest for visiting Soviet managers

Pacific Northwest Executive holds an essay contest for Soviet business managers paired with leaders from Northwest firms for The Goodwill Games Business Conference. Aleksandr Nikolaevsky delivers the winning essay, “A Faceless Gray Mass,” in which he describes American-style business as “a strange sport borrowed from abroad, a sport that tests your nerves… Business to us is like riding a bull at a rodeo or the waves at Niagara Falls.” Before returning to the USSR, Nikolaevsky spends his $500 prize on a VCR recorder.

Center for International Business Education and Research (CIBER) established

Center for International Business Education and Research (CIBER) is established with a grant from the U.S. Department of Education. Renamed the Global Business Center (GBC) in 2002, the center offers international business certificate programs for BAs and MBAs, international coursework, scholarships, faculty and student research support, a global business forum, a visiting scholar program and an international case competition.
