The Board Fellows Program begins placing Foster MBA students as non-voting board members of local non-profit organizations as an exercise in experiential learning around governance and management. Agencies participating in the program reach diverse communities and focus on a wide variety of causes, including education, social services, environmental issues, arts and entertainment, and health. The program is offered by the Business and Economic Development Center (now the Consulting and Business Development Center).
The UW Business School wins its first MBA Challenge For Charity (C4C), the annual battle of West Coast business schools to raise the most money and volunteer the most hours in support of local community organizations that was founded in the mid-1980s. The UW team, supporting Special Olympics and Boys & Girls Clubs, will bring home seven-straight C4C “Golden Briefcases.”
