For further information, please visit the SSW Graduation Celebration Website, (http://socialwork.uw.edu/students/graduation)
The SSW Graduation Celebration does not require tickets, but tickets are required for UW Commencement. We do ask students to RSVP (https://catalyst.uw.edu/webq/survey/sswstsrv/220938) for themselves and their guests for purposes of ordering food, parking, disability accommodations, etc. for the SSW Graduation Celebration by May 2, 2014. At the SSW Graduation Celebration, students are not limited to a fixed number of guests.
Cap and Gown Required?
At the UW ceremony, yes. For Social Work, no. But we strongly encourage students to do so: about 90% usually wear the cap and gown, and families who attend the ceremony let us know that they appreciate that our students and faculty wear formal academic apparel. In addition to the cap and gown, graduate students wear a hood, which is placed over the shoulders during the ceremony. Apparel must be ordered between May 7 and 25, 2014 from the UW Commencement website, even if you are attending only the Social Work ceremony. The SSW Office of Student Services (room 23, across from the computer lab) also has a limited number of recycled caps and gowns available for graduating students who are facing financial constraints.
