Prof. Dr. Ir Asmudin
Natsir, M.Sc

Prof. Asmuddin Natsir has become a lecturer at the Faculty of
Animal Science, Hasanuddin University since 1985. He got his
bachelor degree from the same institution in 1984, Master Degree in
Animal Nutrition from Auburn University, Alabama USA in 1992, and
was awarded a Ph.D Degree in Animal Nutrition from Melbourne
University, Australia in 2005.
During his carreer, he mostly involves in the management system of
the faculty and university. He served the secretary of Animal
Nutrition Department for two terms, i.e. 1992-1995 and 1995-1999.
Between 2006 – 2010, he become the Head of Animal Nutrition
Department. From early 2010 to date, he holds the position of Deputy
Dean for academic affairs. He also involves in the university
management. He has become a member of the Planning and Development
Team of University since 2005 till now. In addition, he is in charge
for the implementation of the I-MHERE (Indonesian Managing Higher
Education for Relevancy and Efficiency) program, a project funded by
the World Bank for improvement of university management from
2007-2012. Within his activity in university management, he keep
maintaining his passion in teaching by lecturing such classes as
Introduction for Animal Nutrition, Research Methodology,
Experimental Design and Biochemical Nutrition, as well as
supervising research projects for Undergraduate, Master and Ph.D
students. He also maintain his reserach capacity by doing some
research projects which is focusing on synchronization of energy and
protein to optimize rumen microbial fermentation in ruminants.
He has established some collaboration with national institution e.g.
Indonesian National of Science, and international institution such
as ACIAR (Australia), JICA (Japan), and FAO for community
empowerment. He got an award from the govermenment for 20 years of
servicing the university. He is a member of Hasanuddin University
Alumni, Indonesia Association of Animal Science Alumni, Association
of Indonesian Animal Nutritionist.
He married to Asiah Patu and has two children, Gita & Bama.
