Prof. Marsetyo is a lecturer at Department of Animal Sciences, Tadulako University, Palu Central Sulawesi Indonesia. He is originally from Central Java. After received his first degree (Bachelor of Animal Science) from Jenderal Soedirman University in Central Java, Marsetyo joining Tadulako University in 1992. In 2006 He continued his master degree at the Department of Animal Science. The University of New England, Armidale, New South Wales Australia, until 1998. Marsetyo got his PhD degree in the same area from School of Land and Food Sciences, Queensland University Australia in 2004. Marsetyo current position at Tadulako University is as Deputy of International Office which has responsibility for helping to establish collaborative programs with many institutions in a number of countries around the world. These partnerships involve joint research, staff exchange, student exchange, joint publications.

At Tadulako University, Marsetyo teaches some subject including Ruminant Nutrition, Feedlot Technology, Pasture Management, Integrated farming system either at under and post graduate program. He also supervises students for their thesis to finish up their degree.

Marsetyo research focus is on beef cattle nutrition and pasture management. He has won many research grants both national and international level. Since 2004, Marsetyo has joined to Australian Centre for International Agricultural Research (ACIAR) and establishing international collaboration research between Tadulako University and other institutions including University of Queensland Australia, The Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (SCIRO) Australia, Indonesian Center for Animal Research and Development (ICARD), University of Hasanuddin, University of Mataram, University Nusa Cendana, University of Haluoleo and University of Lampung.

In 2006, Marsetyo received award as best Lecture at Faculty of Agriculture, Tadulako University and in 2009, due to his research achievement, Marsetyo received international award from Australia called John Dillon Fellowship
