The CGHE community is deeply saddened by the passing of one of our Investigators, RICK CARLSON. Rick Carlson was a Clinical Professor of Health Services and Pharmacy at the University of Washington and a valued colleague in the UW Pharmaceutical Outcomes Research and Policy Program, Center for Genomics and Healthcare Equality, and Resource Center for Health Policy. Rick received a JD from the University of Minnesota, and spent a lifetime contributing to innovative health policy development, including work on the original HMO legislation. His recent work addressed the implications of human genomics in health care. He had a special gift for bringing people together across disciplinary boundaries and catalyzing productive approaches to tough problems. He is survived by his four children, Rebekah, Josh, Blue, and Joey, and two grandchildren, Aisha and Zoe. He will be greatly missed.
