About Us: The UW Center for Genomics & Public Health

The Center for Genomics and Public Health, directed by Karen L. Edwards, PhD, is funded by a grant from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). In addition to the National Office of Health Genomics at the CDC, the Center for Genomics and Public Health works closely with the National Institutes of Health, other genomics research centers, and state public health agencies.

The mission of the Center for Genomics and Public Health is to integrate genomics into public health practice. We accomplish this by providing educational resources to state public health agencies and practitioners, insurance providers, and the public.  We also identify ways to use genomics to improve the health of populations.

The Center is affiliated with the School of Public Health and Community Medicine at the University of Washington. For more information about the Center, visit History of the Center.
