Genetics
Genetics of Obesity
The increasing prevalence of obesity, a complex condition, is a major public health concern in the US. Although environmental factors play an important role in the development of obesity, there is strong evidence from both human and animal studies indicating that genes also contribute to the development of obesity. This audio-assisted presentation created by UWCGPH provides public health practitioners with information about the genetics of obesity.
Genetics and Genomics
Genomics for Public Health Practitioners: The Practical Application of Genomics in Public Health Practice
An on-line module designed to give public health practitioners an overview of genomics and examples of how it is relevant to public health. This module was created by a working group of individuals from the Michigan Center for Genomics & Public Health, the North Carolina Center for Genomics & Public Health, the University of Washington Center for Genomics & Public Health, and Office of Genomics & Disease Prevention within the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention.
