Dr. Bennett

Dr. Bennett's research centers on assessment of developmental outcomes of children with disabilities and children at risk for developmental problems. His research encompasses two major areas: evaluation of the effects of early developmental intervention through long-term follow-up and identification of factors that predict resilience, competence, and successful coping strategies in children with chronic illness and disability and their families.

A major aspect of Bennett's work is assessing neurodevelopmental outcomes of infants weighing less than 800 grams at birth. This subgroup of the LBW population is of particular interest because while neonatal technology has demonstrated a positive impact on immediate survival of extremely premature infants, the impact of such technology on long-term morbidity among the same population has remained unclear.
