Dr. Drennan has a special interest in children receiving cochlear implants and studies perceptual and physiological assessments and mechanisms of hearing among pediatric and adult populations, including normal-hearing, noise-damaged, hearing impaired, and cochlear implant users. Recent work employs electrocochleography and ultra-high frequency audiometry to evaluate speech understanding under adverse conditions.
