Dr. Grabowski's research is a synthesis of imaging technology and cognitive neuroscience, using functional and structural imaging techniques to study the neural basis of language processes in health and disease, and developing and validating new imaging methods for application to clinical populations. He is specifically interested in the role of the left temporal lobe in lexical and semantic processing as a paradigm for the operation of higher order association cortex. Grabowski is also interested in the alterations of systems for lexical retrieval that accompany neurological disease, especially stroke and degenerative dementia.
