Research |
Dr. Huebner's research centers on prevention of childhood morbidities associated with social and economic disadvantage through studies designed to elucidate the social bases of language, cognitive development, and emotional development in typically developing and at-risk children. Her research spans pediatric health care, private mental health training programs, early childhood education sites, community programs, and public libraries. Recent studies have included evaluation of Head Start and Early Head Start programs, an adaptation and evaluation of Healthy Steps for Young Children, the design and evaluation of maltreatment prevention programs, creating and testing web-based resources for parents and caregivers with relatively low literacy and health literacy skills, and numerous studies of community-based support for young children’s language and emergent literacy development.
