Dr. Yeatman’s laboratory is actively engaged in understanding the interplay between brain maturation and learning, especially reading skills. Yeatman’s hope is to develop personalized intervention programs that will assist the treatment of children with learning disabilities, such as dyslexia, that are tailored to a child’s unique pattern of brain maturation. Advances in non-invasive, quantitative brain imaging technologies are opening a new window into the mechanisms that underlie learning while interventions provide a powerful tool for understanding how environmental factors shape brain development.
