ADD Network Partnership on Aging and End of Life Issues
Core Function: Technical Assistance and Outreach Training
The Adults and Elders Program at CHDD participates with the Developmental Disabilities Council (DDC) and Disability Rights of Washington (DRW) through our Collaborative Public Policy Committee (CPPC) on an agenda of priority needs. The most recent project of the CPPC is the Aging and End of Life Task Force, a collaboration aimed at identifying the most pressing issues around aging and end of life, investigating the issues, and making recommendations on how to address the issues to improve quality of life for elders with developmental disabilities. The Task Force, led by the DDC, has jointly convened meetings of three working groups of stakeholders from across the state over the past two years. The working group on Medical and Health Issues is chaired by the director of the Adults and Elders Program. Reports and recommendations are being developed by the DDC staff and working group leaders as tools for advocacy in the upcoming legislative session as well as within State agencies and local communities. Recommendations include strategies to promote collaboration between aging and disability service delivery systems in our state. The network of stakeholders who have worked on this project has committed to continued collaboration to improve the quality of life for adults aging with developmental disabilities.
