Disability Policy Analysis for Department of Services for the Blind
Core Function: Technical Assistance and Outreach Training
Assist WA State Department of Services for the Blind (DSB) to incorporate relevant materials from WAC and procedures on the agency web site and intranet as appropriate. Represent DSB on WorkSource issues, in collaboration with VR staff. This includes representing DSB on the Interagency Committee (IC) and the Washington Disability Network (WDN). Provide Technical Assistance and Referral on matters related to Access Technology, ADA, proposed legislation, interpretation of laws related to disability and employment issues, etc.; on-going consultation and technical assistance, focused on conceptualizing and big picture perspective for the Executive team; on-going technical assistance on matters related to accessibility of DSB publications, including the DSB web site. Provide management consultation and oversite for the DSB Independent Living Program including on-going development and monitoring of the Independent Living Strategic Work Plan. Examples of issues to include in the IL Work Plan include, but are not limited to the following: monitoring and enhancement of a contract funding formula based on measurable results; revision of forms used by service providers; and recruitment process development.
