Pacific West Maternal & Child Health Distance Learning
Network-Oral Health
Core Function: Technical Assistance and Outreach Training
This project is part of the Pacific
West Maternal and Child Health Distance Learning Network that was developed in collaboration with the University of Southern California’s UCEDD, in response to the training needs identified by maternal and child health practitioners providing services in the Pacific West. The Nutrition and Oral Health component includes development and implementation of a distance-learning curriculum on nutrition and oral health for children.
The distance learning curriculum Nutrition and Oral Health for Children was developed with the help of advisory group members (made up of practitioners from states in HRSA regions VIII, IX, and X) and other experts in the field of nutrition and oral health. This web-based curriculum is intended for use by dental professionals, primary care providers, nutritionists, educators, therapists, and others who serve young children. The curriculum includes practical examples, and family-centered practice and cultural competence are incorporated into the material. Continuing education credit is available for dental and nutrition professionals upon completion of this web-based training.
