UW Special Education Renewal Project
Core Function: Research and Evaluation
The goal of this project is to enhance the existing UW teacher education program to better meet the need for highly qualified teachers to serve children with high-incidence disabilities. The program will produce graduates who meet or exceed newly published regulations in IDEIA and the revised state standards for highly qualified teachers.
Work is done in collaboration with state, educational service districts, school districts, schools, teachers, families and people with disabilities to identify training needs, plan program revisions, and evaluate program outcomes. Drawing from those same constituencies, an advisory board has been established to assist in achieving project goals. The project is in its fourth year of implementation.
