What Is Accessible Electronic and Information Technology?
This website has answers to common questions regarding accessible information technology in education. It is maintained by Access IT and the ten regional DBTACs. One may use the search engine to locate specific information in our Knowledge Base or browse the complete list of Q&A's by Topic.

Autism Disorders and Medications: Answers to Common Questions — A questionnaire/checklist for autism about your child's behavior.

Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD): MedicationsThis handout covers issues about the uses of medications in the treatment of symptoms related to ASD. FAQs are answered and additional resources to learn more about autism are also listed.

Infants and Toddlers

Child Health Note Topics — Child Health Notes (CHN) provide information for early identification and management of special health and developmental concerns. Formatted as a concise double-sided newsletter, each CHN covers a specific topic.

BabyCues — BabyCues is a deck of cards with photos and explanations to help parents, grandparents, and other caregivers become more "tuned into" their baby or young child's feelings and needs by learning to read and respond to their child's behavioral cues. Ordering information is included on the web page.

CHILD Profile Translated Health Promotion Materials — This site provides health promotion materials (PDF) for all parents of children from birth to age six in Washington State. The materials contain age-specific information about growth, development, safety, nutrition, and other parenting issues. Each mailing contains an age-appropriate letter and may contain other useful brochures and pamphlets.

Critical Elements of Care - Supplement: Extremely Low Birth Weight Infants —The Critical Elements for Care Project has developed clinical guidelines and information resources (PDF). This information is for primary health care providers and families in the monitoring and management of low birth weight and very low birth weight infants. Other information is avaliable throughout the website.

Was Your Baby Born Early? Was Your Baby Born Small? — This brochure (PDF) provides information for families who have a baby who was born too early or too small, including what questions to ask to health care providers and other ways to support their child's development.

Phenylketonuria (PKU)

Choices You can Live With — This website represents up-to-date information in video (VDO) format. That can be watched over the internet or ordered about maternal PKU and the importance of making well-informed decisions prior to pregnancy.

PKU Adolescent Transition Curriculum — PDF's designed to help high school juniors and seniors manage their PKU independently. The goal of this transition is for indivudals to develop a personal plan of responsibility for their health care and PKU management.

Really Living with PKU — Online video "Really Living with PKU" was created to give families with newly diagnosed infants the reassurance that, with proper medical and nutritional care, their newborn will lead a normal life. The video shows infants, children, adolescents, and their families adapting to PKU, discussing the changes PKU has made for families, and promoting day-to-day activities and long-term treatment.


Prenatal Diagnosis

Focus on Prenatal Diagnosis for Joubert Syndrome This PowerPoint slide show provides information on prenatal diagnosis and reproductive options for couples who have had a child with Joubert syndrome. The purpose of prenatal diagnosis is to provide information to couples so that they can make informed reproductive decisions ranging from termination of an affected fetus to preparation for the birth of an affected child.

 

General Health

Medical Home Information on Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD):

Diagnoses and ConditionsThis website contains PDF's with information on ADHD and a variety of websites and PDFs to keep members and professionals current on research advances, medications, and treatments affecting individuals with ADHD.

Medical Home: Families and Providers Working Together This PDF is a brochure for the Medical Home Program that includes information on definitions, benefits, and tips for families about having a Medical Home for their child.

Stepping Up This website provides links to various PDF files called Crib Sheets, which are intended for informational and educational purposes. Topics include exercise and escaping domestic violence. Information should not be used for diagnosing or treating health or behavioral problems or diseases.

Tyrosinemia Pal — The Tyrosinemia Pal website was developed to help families in the management of tyrosinemia.

Washington State Info Sheet: Ticket to Work —This website contains information about Washington State's employment program for individuals with disabilities.
